Does elastic go slack?
It relaxes over a couple of years of daily wear, faster if it is stored stretched. Hanging a belt straight rather than coiling it tight is most of the answer.
Where do braided belts hold?
Anywhere. The pin goes between the strands, so a braided belt is effectively continuous rather than stepped, and it is the only holed belt with no fixed sizes.
Are these formal enough for the office?
Braided leather in a dark colour passes in most offices. Elastic weave does not, and there is no point pretending otherwise.
